The Scream Munch - Edvard Munch's artwork is characterized by the search for the meaning of life. With a great deal of sensitivity his paintings reflect psychological borderline situations such as fear, disease or death, but also love and eroticism. The intense and often dark nuances of color underline the meaning of the paintings which ofter deal with the conflicts of the human soul. Edvard Munch was born in 1863 in Loeten, Norway, and died in 1944 in Oslo. His artistic development took him to Paris and Berlin, where the exhibition of his works in 1892 caused a scandal. Some of his paintings and graphics are considered to have paved the way for Expressionism.
